Sunday May 19th
This week we returned home and settled back into our ‘routine’. As I was cleaning and unpacking (and fortunately had most of it done) I threw my back out. I was in quite a bit of pain for a couple of days - no fun! Fortunately I healed fairly quickly and there is no lasting damage. At this age you never know 😬
The picture of the strawberries has a story that goes with it. I was in the Home Depot parking lot and there was a young Mexican selling half flats of strawberries off a hand truck. He named a price - and I negotiated with him (in Spanish) - without even thinking about it. We made a deal and I brought home the strawberries. Of course the first thing Mike thought about was strawberry pie (BTW - the strawberries were amazing! Mike (and I) kept picking at them so there were barely enough left for pies!) When we lived in Lompoc we used to make strawberry pies as a ward fundraiser. Back in the day you had to raise ALL of the money for your ward activities. The Lompoc ward used to bake and sell strawberry pies at the flower festival. They would make and sell over 1000 pies! It was a lot of work, but it totally brought the ward together. It was while making these pies the first year that I began to make some of my dearest friends. So I had to use the Lompoc Ward strawberry pie recipe! The pies were delicious. One of the benefits of living near by is that Cady and Chris got to take a pie home. 🥧
Scott and Annie celebrated their 24th anniversary! How does time go by so fast? Becca graduates this week - that means half of their children are adults already!
Becca (left) graduating!
Mike’s little primary boys sure love him! They run around like crazy people for the first 5 minutes and then begin to settle down. Reminds me of some boys I raised ❤️
Eric was in a car accident this week. A new driver turned left right into him. Fortunately Eric’s reflexes are quick enough he managed to angle the car so as not to get t-boned. Eric is doing okay (air bags deployed which banged him up pretty bad) But the car is totaled. Grateful for tender mercies!
Mike and I were talking this evening about how blessed/spoiled we are. We are so grateful to have all of you ~ because that is what makes life worth living. 💞
Curt went to Japan this week on business. He traveled around the country on a bullet train and had an amazing time. Apparently it is cheaper to go to Japan and go to Disneyland there than it is to go to Disneyland in the USA. Adult entry is only $50!
Kent went to Houston and stayed for a few days. They had terrible storms and tornadoes, so he ‘camped’ in a Hilton with no electricity and no water. I am always so glad when we get everyone home safe and sound!
