                                                    PARK CITY UTAH MAY 2024

Thursday May 9th 2024

It has been a LONG time since I have updated this blog. I think the last time I printed out my blog was 2017~where does the time go?! I am going to start with the current time and move backwards as I have time or I will NEVER get this straightened out. I retired last September and this has been one of the things on my list that I promised I would take care of! Mike and I have been in Utah for a week - lots of family happenings - so I will start with that.

We drove down to Utah on Thursday - and while on the trip Mike won the lottery to hike Angel's Landing in Zion's National Park. Kent volunteered to go with him (thank you Kent!) so we all drove down Friday morning. I dropped Mike and Kent off in Zion's and then went to the hotel to nap. I couldn't nap - I was so stressed about the hike - it is labeled as very dangerous, and I knew Mike was exhausted from our trip. I spent my entire 'nap' time praying that they would be okay. Mike got up to within about a quarter mile of the end of the hike - and felt that he needed to stop there and turn around. Knowing Mike, this was a very difficult decision for him - he hates to leave things 'undone'. I, on the other hand,  was very grateful to have them back down safe and sound!

It's a good thing we brought puzzles for Park City - snow! ❄️

The next day I attended my 50th High School reunion. It wasn't really a 'class of '74' reunion ~ we had a group of girls who hung out together at the 'Mormon Table' in the cafeteria. I wasn't really sure what to expect -  50 years had gone by! It was absolutely amazing! So much of life has happened over those 50 years - but the love and friendship still exists - we laughed and cried and promised not to wait 50 years until the next time! (None of us would be here then anyway ~ teehee)

I used to call the St. George temple the 'Marry Castle' when I was little. It was where my mom and dad got married. Little did I know that I would marry my husband there many years later 💕

Sunday was Liliana's baby blessing (Jair and Becca) She is our sweet little miracle baby. Kent and Amy hosted and dinner afterwards at their home. So fun to celebrate with family and friends.

Mike and I went to Provo on Tuesday to visit with Nicole and get Isaac's 'stuff' to bring home. That boy has a lot of stuff! Who takes Legos to college? ~smile  We took Nicole to Heaps Brick Oven Pizza  - it doesn't go by Heaps anymore - but this used to be one of my favorite places to eat when I was in college! Some of the inside looks exactly the same! Nicole is working in Provo for the summer - and enjoying not having 'school' at the same time. We also stopped and visited with my Aunt Diane. She has moved to Provo this month - selling her house in CA. She said this is a new chapter in her life that she is adjusting to since Uncle Jim passed way.

Kent and Amy's family came up for 'grandpa steak' and hot tubbing last night. It is a tradition to get together one night while we are here. I think Amy just comes for the hot tub ~ haha

Mike went to visit Don Sleight today -  I miss Alane every day - but I have been blessed to have good friends in my life.

I like when we come to Park City or go to Palm Springs - because it gives me time to 'settle' and catch up on things like blogging. ~smile. Having it be snowy and cold gives me extra reason to stay inside and get caught up on things that I don't take time for at home.
