It has been a busy two weeks! Glenn came and stayed on the way to help Brittany in Seattle. Then Curt and his family came to visit over Memorial Day Weekend. We were so excited to have them come! We had a lot of fun - We also spent quite a bit of time with Heather’s sister Sabrina and her family. The cousins swam and played pickle ball/basketball/tennis and generally just hung out. Cady and Chris and family headed to Idaho for the holiday weekend so that Emma could check out BYUI and to celebrate Ethan’s birthday. They got back in time to see Curt and family before they left. Ryan leaves on a service mission this week to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands!  Mike had to have some skin cancer removed from his scalp - when they got in there, they discovered that it covered quite a bit more area than originally anticipated. He is doing well, just miserable. 😔  After being at Brittany’s for a week, Glenn came back to our house for a little respite. It has been nice to have h...

This week we returned home and settled back into our ‘routine’. As I was cleaning and unpacking (and fortunately had most of it done) I threw my back out. I was in quite a bit of pain for a couple of days - no fun! Fortunately I healed fairly quickly and there is no lasting damage. At this age you never know 😬 The picture of the strawberries has a story that goes with it. I was in the Home Depot parking lot and there was a young Mexican selling half flats of strawberries off a hand truck. He named a price - and I negotiated with him (in Spanish) - without even thinking about it. We made a deal and I brought home the strawberries. Of course the first thing Mike thought about was strawberry pie (BTW - the strawberries were amazing! Mike (and I) kept picking at them so there were barely enough left for pies!) When we lived in Lompoc we used to make strawberry pies as a ward fundraiser. Back in the day you had to raise ALL of the money for your ward activities. The Lompoc ward used ...

May 10, 2024 When this came across my screen yesterday I was shocked!! Apparently it was on the news as well?! Almost 30 years of working at Southridge with little recognition - and then after I retired ~ this? I am actually pretty tickled. 😊 In addition, because it was also posted on Facebook I have had many former students and peers comment and add their congratulations. Sometimes as a teacher, after all of the work, heartache, and tears, it is nice to be acknowledged for a job well done. The student who nominated me, Ashwin Joshi, is one of those students who are sure have amazing futures (I can't take much credit for that!) Mike and I celebrated Mother's Day today. We went for a beautiful drive - it was perfect weather! We went to lunch, did a little shopping, and stopped an bought some AMAZING pastries! We don't have this kind of thing in TriTown. (Mountains or pastries 😜) How is our Becca Boo a senior? 🥹 They had senior night for her graduating class this week. S...

PARK CITY UTAH MAY 2024 Thursday May 9th 2024 It has been a LONG time since I have updated this blog. I think the last time I printed out my blog was 2017~where does the time go?! I am going to start with the current time and move backwards as I have time or I will NEVER get this straightened out. I retired last September and this has been one of the things on my list that I promised I would take care of! Mike and I have been in Utah for a week - lots of family happenings - so I will start with that.    We drove down to Utah on Thursday - and while on the trip Mike won the lottery to hike Angel's Landing in Zion's National Park. Kent volunteered to go with him (thank you Kent!) so we all drove down Friday morning. I dropped Mike and Kent off in Zion's and then went to the hotel to nap. I couldn't n...
