May 10, 2024 When this came across my screen yesterday I was shocked!! Apparently it was on the news as well?! Almost 30 years of working at Southridge with little recognition - and then after I retired ~ this? I am actually pretty tickled. 😊 In addition, because it was also posted on Facebook I have had many former students and peers comment and add their congratulations. Sometimes as a teacher, after all of the work, heartache, and tears, it is nice to be acknowledged for a job well done. The student who nominated me, Ashwin Joshi, is one of those students who are sure have amazing futures (I can't take much credit for that!) Mike and I celebrated Mother's Day today. We went for a beautiful drive - it was perfect weather! We went to lunch, did a little shopping, and stopped an bought some AMAZING pastries! We don't have this kind of thing in TriTown. (Mountains or pastries 😜) How is our Becca Boo a senior? 🥹 They had senior night for her graduating class this week. S

PARK CITY UTAH MAY 2024 Thursday May 9th 2024 It has been a LONG time since I have updated this blog. I think the last time I printed out my blog was 2017~where does the time go?! I am going to start with the current time and move backwards as I have time or I will NEVER get this straightened out. I retired last September and this has been one of the things on my list that I promised I would take care of! Mike and I have been in Utah for a week - lots of family happenings - so I will start with that.    We drove down to Utah on Thursday - and while on the trip Mike won the lottery to hike Angel's Landing in Zion's National Park. Kent volunteered to go with him (thank you Kent!) so we all drove down Friday morning. I dropped Mike and Kent off in Zion's and then went to the hotel to nap. I couldn't nap - I was so stressed about the hike - it is labeled as very dangerous, and I knew Mike was exhausted from our trip. I spe

April 2024

April was a busy month! But at last we had flowers and sunshine! Why is it that the winter drags on forever (ours was especially dark, rainy, and gloomy this year) and that the warmer weather months fly by?? The minute the weather started to warm up Mike was out in the garden working to get it ready. It always amazes me how a patch of dirt can turn into an abundance of food (and weeds 😒) It takes a tremendous amount of work - but it is also good therapy for someone I know and love 😍 Mike teaches the 4 - 7 year olds in primary. His little boys are so squirmy that he sits on the floor with them - and it seems to help. He also has the activity day boys from ages 8 - 11, so basically he teaches ALL of our primary boys. They love him bunches! (It may also be the candy he brings all of the time) He hiked Badger Mountain with the Activity Day boys and took snow cones with him for afterwards.  There are not many 70 year-olds that would be doing that!

Back to School?

Sunday August 23, 2020   Dear Family I almost don't know where to begin. If I could get into my old blog I would begin reposting there - but no such luck - so I am starting a new blog ~ aka Book 2. A chance remark by a friend this summer made me realize that I should start blogging again - just to keep in touch with our friends in family. First a 'tour' of my summer - then my thoughts on this crazy world we are living in. Fourth of July at our house was a pared down affair. Curt and Heather's family went to Scott's in Boise prior to coming here - and they all got sick - so in the day of Covid we all decided it was better for them to stay put (they ended up with bad colds). Kent and Cady's families were here with us. So we had a very nice 4th sans parade and BIG fireworks. Mike had a little fireworks 'episode' so we will definitely be more cautious in the future. The lines have blurred terribly between work and home. I took a new position as an instru
